Social Media Marketing Disadvantages
June 22, 2008
I know you are wondering what could be the disadvantages to social marketing? This can be summed up really in one word. TIME
It takes a lot of time to not only write posts, and keep your site or your blog updated and fresh but to post your articles, to the social sites and then make sure you are being a good friend and voting, commenting and making new friends.
This has been one of my biggest problems. I am really terrible at repetitive tasks. I don’t personally believe that outsourcing your tagging is ethical. I may have to change and really look at it but I think the whole point is to be on the sites and to see what people are doing and talking about and to be a friend. I also don’t believe in having multiple user names just to vote my own stuff up. I think that is a big problem with why people are getting really down on internet marketing…and marketers specifically.
Ethics…..
In the B&M world (brick and mortar) you must be ethical in your business practices to keep doing business. You can’t represent yourself as someone you are not, and you must make sure that your advertising is above reproach. However online many of these things are just thrown right out the window.
I think that is another of the disadvantages of social marketing.
We have been working on several projects lately, that will hopefully put our social marketing into a more time friendly endeavor. One that will allow us to utilize our time more efficiently and keep our standards higher and be ethical in the mix.
Camilla is so “friggin brilliant” she has been working with a system that is totally amazing. You can spend a day putting together a site, and then put it all on autopilot for up to a year. All of your posts are posted to the socials, your products are updated, and added automatically, and…. the best part is you can do this with several niches and they seem to be ranking really well.
We will soon have more information out on this as soon as we get a little more testing done.
Some things that will save you time are ;
using Friend Feed
Plurk seems to be working pretty well too
If you know of time saving apps or sites add them to the comments.
